Review of Cinder: Book 1 Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

This book was read on a quick reference by a relative. After reading the Grey Wolf Series, the name "Lunar" brought images of werewolves and vampires to mind and initially i started read the boon expecting it to be a supernatural series.

The first few lines made me read back and forth as there was a cyborg here and then i just had a go through the book review and then came to know that this was a future fiction book with cyborgs and Lunar alliances. Seemed more like Hunger Games Scenario and I had decided to read this book.

The book seemed a little damn in the first fee pages with this girl called Cinder who was a cyborg working as a mechanic and not for her living but for her step mother and step sisters. She was more like a slave and the image bought back was that of cinderella. A quick search revealed that all the books of the series were set like future fairy tales , Cinderella, Little Red riding hood, Rapunzel and Snow White.

In Cinder, the second step sister was very close to Cinder and her contracting the dreaded disease of Letumosis comes as a major turn over in the story. She was more like a backward class with her steel extensions and Fussy makeover as a mechanic. Initially was believing that she was a complete robot with simple human features, but at some instances you do feel her human heart where the step sister -Peony is taken away by hovercrafts ( these are more like current cars) and she is not able to shed a drop of tear. At that point the story says that she feels less human, but you feel she is more human than her step mother.

With the story progressing, the true background of Cinder reveals. Wonder if the secret was revealed in a hurry int he second half or if I felt so coz I was reading ai full throttle to know who she actually was. I had a small notion that she could be the most wanted, but how was one question which has been beautifully given up in the story line where towards the end the doctor brings up the great news.

But then I had a personal feeling that the ball dance story segment was more than rushed than it should be creating a hell lot of confusion that I had to read back and over to understand what had happened. I was wondering if I could get a movie segment of this scenario.

Looking on to read Scarlet, probably the books from the library will arrive today.

Thats Cinder
Book Cover: Cinder

Iko the android

Wonder what they had in mind when the got this cast for Cinder and Kai the Prince . I had a totally different picture of Kaito in my mind..
