Traveling With Your Dog- A Quick Checklist

When you have a dog, it becomes a part of your family. The difficult segment comes when you have to decide whether to take your pet on the vacation or not. Understand your pet and take the right decision to confirm that they stay safe.
1.    Check your dog’s physical condition
You can take your pet to the vet who can ensure that all the necessary vaccinations are taken. He will also ensure the health condition and confirm it fit for travel. He will also run a sedative trial and check for any problems.
2.    Airlines, hotel, and country restrictions
Some countries have prior restrictions, tests, and documentations required while traveling with dogs. These may take some time, so make sure that you plan a few months in prior so that you do not have to face difficulties later in taking your dog.
3.    Check for breed specifications
Short-nosed dog breeds like pugs have breathing problem in flight. You can check for specifications from pet travel websites or with the airlines. Take all the medical records of the pet while traveling.
4.    Fasten Up
If you are on a road trip, make sure that you properly buckle it up. A pet roaming around in the car can be the cause of an accident. While on a flight, you can either take them with you or check into cargo. The carrier should be spacious and comfortable for the pet.
5.    Tag the Dog
There is a risk of losing your dog while on a trip. So, tag the collar with address and phone number.
6.    Do not leave them in the car
While traveling, you may be restricted from taking your pet to certain areas. Do not leave them in the car. Find a pet care center or safely leave them at home rather than taking the risk of leaving them in the car.
