5 Ways Game of Thrones Reflects Real Life

Based on a book by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones is a television series. It is a fictional fantasy series. The show revolves around ruthless leaders who are on the lookout for power. It has terrific supernaturals like fire gods and dragons who change the hands of the power holder. The good person is always the one who is sacrificed or forced to keep quiet. And there are people around who are plotting. The plot might seem senseless, full of sex and fights, but the story's success is a pointer in that it has some relation to real life, which connects with the viewers. So far, HBO has released four seasons, and spoilers for the fifth season are all over the internet. The author of the book, George R R Martin, mentioned once that even though the book is fictitious, the basic storyline is historical.

5. Similarity to the War of Roses

Westeros is the central kingdom in the Game of Thrones, and Angeles separates Westeros into different domains. In the same way, the group of Anglo-Saxons divided England into seven parts. The North is isolated from the rest of the world by a wall similar to the Hadrian Wall.

Starks and Lannisters are the two classes of people in constant fights. In 1455 and 1487, Lancaster and York fought the War of Roses, resembling Game of Thrones. The author of the book, George Martin, also stated that he had the War of Roses in his mind when he was writing the book. This civil war had shaken England for more than three decades.

4. Violence of the Current World

There is so much violence around us, but many people wrote off Game of Thrones to be full of brutal violence. World news channels have been showing the worst wars in recent years. The war scenarios in the Thrones storyline are nothing more than the violence around us. These provoke awful feelings in people, and the same feelings are felt for the victims of war in the tv show too. The play also tells a simple story of violence toward women. It has well-pictured rape scenes to reach the hearts of real people even though it is a fantasy. The play well explains death's pain and aftermath. The Game of Thrones is not silly like other fantasy movies and shows how the love for power creates havoc in society. Getting to the Iron Throne is the goal of the entire game.

3. The Threat of the Others beautifully portrays the Climate Change of the Current world

The drama is about the War of Five Kings, and in its wake, several other forces plan several invasions. Ice demons plan on an attack that will be further let down by winter. It will plunge the land into starvation. At this time, Daenerys clubs together foreigners and dragons to fight her side of the war. The Westeros know of the impending trouble. But they didn't take it seriously even after repeated warnings from Castle Black. The same applies to the condition of humans in the current world. We have been warned repeatedly for years about the upcoming Global issues that the world is facing now and the ones that we ought to meet in a few years to come, but we humans are the least bothered about it and do not want to take any strict measures to counter it. The ice sheets would melt like the ice dragons, the global warming would leave humans with cancer and other diseases, and these are taking place amidst the current war between countries. The parallels were not in the author's mind when he wrote the story, but being in such a world situation, the world around him has inadvertently influenced this writing.

2. Religious Extremism

Sparrows are a group of fanatics who bring over religious extremism into the Game of Thrones. Years back, the belief was that the role of religion in deciding world politics would decline with fewer people going into religious fanaticism. But this notion has been proved wrong in the present world. The most wanted Iron Throne comes under the threat of the Sparrows. The leader of Westeros goes into the dilemma of how to face the religious sect. There have been no other fictitious war stories that had spiritual intervention in them. Even though the Sparrows are a small group of people, the divided state of the Westeros families will make it easier for the Sparrows to dip into their intervention

  1. Direct reference to America

Several people have shown a direct parallel between the current situation in America and the storyline of Game of Thrones.  It will require you to look above the dragons and knights. The basic story of the powerful families of Westeros fighting for the throne is to be considered. There are only two classes, the upper and lower classes. The upper class oppresses others and survives on the cruel people around them. The song “It’s a Man’s World” accurately depicts the current society. The gender inequality factor is parallel in the real world. Yet some powerful women make their way to go on and control three powerful fire-spitting dragons. Such women in the real world easily connect themselves with the characters like Daenerys.

Any story doesn't come out of the blues, and there will be straight inspirations in the writer's life, reflected in the book or the play. The writer George R R Martin lived under American rule, and his book reflects his view of the natural world's political, social, and
