We see several statues around us and in books and they are symbols of peace, pride or some great person. Here is a list of some bizarre sculptures which will keep you wondering why it was created.
10. Boll Weevil Monument
It is located in Alabama in the United States. This monument was built in appreciation to the boll weevil insect which had a great impact on the agricultural advancements. It was the first time in history that an insect was honored with a statue. The statue has a female upholding a boll weevil. The figure is currently replaced with a replica to prevent issues of theft. It stands in the center of a fountain and is 13 feet tall.
9. Carhenge
We all know the Stonehenge, but we wouldn't have heard about the Carhenge. However, it was created as a replica of the Stonehenge by Jim Reinders. It is made out of vintage cars with the stone look by its coating of gray paint. 39 vintage cars were used to create this monument with the holding cars fixed into deep pits, and the top area has been done by welding the cars to location. The feel of the current tumbled down stage of the Stonehenge has been recreated effectively by the artist.
8. Enema Monument
An ode to the enema was created by a Russian Spa, Mashuk Akva Term in the city of Zheleznovodsk. It shows 3 cherub angels upholding a huge creation of the enema on their back. The statue was placed in the courtyard in 2008 and was done to recognize the effect of the enema made of natural spring water. The treatment has been helping several people face and cure of digestive problems. The artist says that she had used the idea of the cherubs from the statues of Italian Renaissance.
7. Steve Jobs Statue
A two-meter high monument of the iPhone was installed in memory of the Apple Inc. founder Steve Jobs after his death. It was located outside the St Petersburg College by ZEFS which is a group of Russian companies. The display was lit and was interactive whereby people could navigate using the touch screen to find pictures and details of the life of Steve Jobs. It also had a QR code on the back which would take you to the site that was created to commemorate Steve.
6. Shit Fountain
Jerzy Kenar created this unique statue out of his irritation of stepping into dog poop. The idea was to remind the dog owner to keep the roads clean of dog shit. The name 'Shit Fountain' is also engraved on it. A shit shaped bronze piece is placed on a cement base, and water flows from the top of it. Several tourists drop in to take a look at this bizarre masterpiece.
5. The Headington Shark
A simple statue of a shark of 8 meters made of fiberglass would not have found its way into our list of strange monuments. This one is placed crashing into the roof of a house which has passerby's take a second look. It was added to the ceiling of the house in 1986 on the first anniversary of the Nagasaki bombing. This piece of art has received some good spectators rushing to New High Street in Britain. The birthday is also celebrated with drinks and foods to the visitors.
4. Die Badende
The name Die Badende is a German word which means “The Bather.” This statue was created by artist Oliver Voss for the beauty company Glory. This piece of art was put on display in the Inner Alster Lake in Hamburg for only about 10 days a way of promotion. The sculpture weighed over 2 tons, but only the head and the knees stayed out of the water. People from all around Germany had flocked in to see this lady before it was removed.
3. Jimmy Carter Peanut
The dedication is weird as it was created to honor Jimmy Carter on the fact that he was a peanut farmer before he became the president. It is placed in Georgia and seems rather scary with its eyeless feature and 13 feet height. The artist has recreated the trademark grin of Carter. The monument was actually created in Indiana and later moved to Georgia. Standing along the roadside, it was once toppled over by a car and later restored. You can still capture a grinning selfie with the Jimmy Carter Peanut.
2. Jeju Loveland
These seducing monuments are found in the Jeju Island of South Korea and was crafted to honor the sexuality and sexual acts. It is one of the kind theme parks and was opened in 2004 with over 140 erotic statues. With such an open talk about eroticism and sexuality, the theme park has several curious visitors. The statues are not just human depictions, but also have animals. The aim as described the founder of the park is to break all misconceptions about sexual desires and let people accept the beauty of it. It measures about double the size of a soccer field. The place is booked by couples to host their marriage in an entirely different style. The park also has attracted several honeymoon couples.
  1. Brownnosers
Placed at the Futura Gallery in Prague, it has two statues bending over side-by-side. Their torsos go out through a cement wall. This piece of artistry was created as criticism over the political situation that was prevalent at their time in the Czech Republic when it was under the rule of President Vaclav Klaus. The artist even hated the National Gallery, and this is evident from the trouble that he has undertaken to create the video which has two real men wearing masks and seen to be spoon feeding each other. The two men are depicted to be the President and the head of the National Gallery. How do you see the video? Climb the ladder and stick your head in the arse to see the video, if you so really want to.
